Notre Dame High’s Conor Lynch to be remembered Sunday with 5th annual run/walk
When Jeri Dye Lynch was told she was about to receive a call from her son’s Notre Dame High School principal, her mind flooded with negative scenarios.
Had Conor cheated on a test? Left school? Was he caught shoplifting at the nearby Westfield mall?
But on that day five years ago, the news was far worse than the mother of three boys had imagined. The junior had been struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while jogging across Woodman Avenue to catch up with his teammates for cross-country practice.

Glendale’s Holy Family school marks its 90-year anniversary
Holy Family Grade School, Glendale’s oldest Catholic school, celebrated its 90th anniversary over the weekend with a mass, dinner and fiesta on the same grounds where the school was blessed and opened to the public on Sept. 14, 1925.

Local firefighter paramedic and missionary doctors honored at White Mass at the Cathedral
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Mission Doctors Association honored doctors, nurses and other health care professionals at the White Mass Aug. 18 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles. Auxiliary Bishop Edward W. Clark was the main celebrant of the Mass – attended by physicians, nurses, missionaries, chaplains, paramedics, students and palliative and hospice care specialists – which honored healthcare professionals for their unconditional service to the community.

Fletcher Jones Foundation awards $250,000 to Bosco Tech for emerging technologies
On Oct. 8, the Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) was awarded a $250,000 grant for the construction of emerging technologies laboratories and curriculum development. The Fletcher Jones Foundation awarded the grant in order to allow the school to focus on three STEM-related fields of green technologies, 3D design prototyping and robotic systems.
