The Funeral Mass for slain Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Solano will take place on Monday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m., at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles. Archbishop José H. Gomez will preside at the Mass.  Father David Gallardo, Pastor at the Cathedral, will deliver the homily. Graveside service will be private and closed to media.

The Funeral Mass and Procession at the Cathedral will be pooled for TV coverage.  A television pool feed will be available on Temple Street by the main entrance of the Cathedral. The TV pool feed will be transmitted live by KABC onsite and via the Switch Pool. Only pool cameras will be allowed inside the Cathedral and on Cathedral Plaza. Pool transmission will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Media will not be allowed inside the Cathedral or on Cathedral Plaza. Media are welcome to cover the service in front of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 W. Temple Street (southside of Temple Street). LASD Public Information Officers will be on hand to coordinate interviews. 

Still photography will also be pooled.  Arrangements for pooled photos can be made through the Los Angeles Times Photo Desk at 213-237-7020.

Radio will have access to audio feed on Temple Street by the main entrance of the Cathedral.

Media parking will be located on Hill Street north of Temple Street.  Limited parking will be available in front of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration for transmission trucks for live coverage (only one transmission truck per station) beginning at 6:30 a.m. There will be no media parking in the Cathedral parking structure. Only the KABC-7 pool vehicle will be allowed to park on the northside of Temple Street.

Street closures may impact access.   All westbound lanes of Temple Street will be closed between Grand Avenue and Hill Street as of 6:30 a.m. Monday but eastbound lanes will remain open until about 7:30 a.m., when Temple Street will be closed in both directions between Grand and Hill. Also, at 7:30 a.m., all north- and southbound lanes of Hill Street will be closed between Temple and Ord streets.
