The Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Digital Media launched today its first video in a new series called “LACatholics Stories” which highlights the unique testimonies of #LACatholics around the Archdiocese encompassing Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

“Stories have the power to transform. Stories have the ability to connect. Stories enable us to reflect on the truth of our lives and empower us to see that truth in action,” said Sarah Josephine Yaklic, Chief Digital Officer for the Archdiocese. “As Pope Francis reminds us in his 2021 World Communications Day Message, ‘come and see’ were the first words that Jesus spoke to the disciples who were curious about him.”

The first #LACatholicsStory is set in the heart of beautiful Santa Barbara, a region of the Archdiocese, where Jake Detar of Detar Music Studios discusses faith and music and shares his story as a father and #LACatholic.

“Being a voice of light in the music industry is desperately needed in our culture,” said Mr. Detar. “As a father, the most valuable thing I can pass on to my children is trust. Trust in God no matter what comes at you.”

Mr. Detar’s personal story of faith is available on https://lacatholics.org/stories/and FacebookInstagramTwitter and YouTube

“So borrowing a page from the Master Communicator’s playbook, my team and I have set out to tell the stories of Catholics who know the Lord and want others to know Him too – to come and see how others find hope and live their lives accordingly,” said Ms. Yaklic. “It is our hope that by giving #LACatholics a place to share their faith stories, we might inspire others to explore the gift of living a faith-filled life and transform the digital highways into a more merciful and compassionate arena.”
