Together in Mission is the only Annual Appeal program in the country that dedicates every dollar to assisting parishes and schools in need

Deirdre “Dee” Smith, has been named the Director of Annual Appeals of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. For ten years, Smith worked as Assistant Vice President for Verizon where she was responsible for managing over 150 accounts and running sales campaigns.

As part of the Annual Catholic Appeal, Together in Mission supports 83 parishes, 63 schools and a total of 175,000 families in the tri-county (Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara) Archdiocese. Together in Mission is the only annual appeal program in the country that dedicates every dollar to assisting parishes and schools that need it. For the past 23 years, contributions from the faithful community have enabled the Archdiocese to provide essential resources and ministries that enrich parish life, strengthen families, advance Church leadership and inspire and educate future generations of our faith.

“I am very excited to be able to work for the Archdiocese. Being a steward within the Church has always been a most fulfilling and rewarding personal experience,” said Smith. “The principle of ‘though we are many, we are one’ has been a guiding and inspirational tenet in my life. I look forward to committing our time and talents to making a real difference in the lives of parishioners within the Archdiocese who are deserving of a safe and hope-filled place of worship and learning.”

Smith grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and is an active long-time parishioner at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach. She graduated Pomona College with a degree in Economics and received an MBA from Pepperdine University with a concentration in Marketing and Finance. Over the years, Smith has been involved with at least ten different nonprofit organizations.
