This morning Pope Francis named Most Reverend Alberto Rojas as Coadjutor Bishop of San Bernardino. Following is a statement in English and Spanish from Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles.

Praying this morning for our brothers and sisters in San Bernardino, as they welcome their new coadjutor Bishop Alberto Rojas. He will serve with Bishop Gerald Barnes and will succeed him when he retires. I know Bishop Rojas as a fine priest, a prayerful man and a thoughtful leader. Entrusting him to the tender care of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and praying that God will bring many blessings to his children in San Bernardino.
