Archdiocese Launches Video Series on the Eight New Priests of the Archdiocese

In his weekly column in Angelus, the weekly news magazine and website of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Archbishop José H. Gomez highlighted the eight new priests of the Archdiocese and challenges they face as they enter their ministries as newly ordained priests during a pandemic.

“Every new priest is a sign of God’s love and his care for his people, and our new priests will be sent out to serve in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that continues to disrupt our families, economy, schools, and parishes,” wrote Archbishop Gomez.

The eight new priests will be ordained next Saturday by Archbishop Gomez. The ordination will be via livestream at due to COVID-19 pandemic gathering restrictions.

“It has been amazing what we have been able to do in this emergency time when we are still restricted from gathering in large numbers –so many parishes and ministries offering livestreamed liturgies and events,” expressed Archbishop Gomez.

“Going forward, we need to see that our websites and social media platforms are far more than simply ways we can ‘push out’ messages to our people.

“The beauty of these tools is that they are interactive. So, we need to seek creative ways to help people express and share their faith online. We need to give them the resources they need to be living witnesses and missionary disciples on their own platforms.”

Today, the Archdiocese is launching a series of videos that highlight the vocation story and journey to the priesthood of each of the new priests. The videos will be released each day leading up to the ordination on August 8 on and

The Archbishop concluded his column by asking the faithful to pray for the new priests of the Archdiocese as they prepare for ordination next week and invited all to join and witness this beautiful sacrament through livestream.
