Los Angeles knows how to do a pro-life walk/rally. After oh-so-many freezing (but, of course worth it!) Marches for Life in DC and Olympia, WA, it was almost surreal to be at a pro-life gathering with warm sunshine instead of snow, rain, and whatever other chilling effects of weather that exist.

A first-of-its kind major pro-life event is taking place this Saturday in Los Angeles, a brand-new initiative inspired by L.A.’s pro-life archbishop.
“This is completely the idea of Archbishop (Jose) Gomez,” Kathleen Buckley Domingo, Life Coordinator for the archdiocese’s Office of Life, Justice and Peace told LifeSiteNews. “He really provided the entire vision and framework for this event.”

Dr. Maher Hathout’s death earlier this month creates a void in the Los Angeles interfaith community, for he was not only one of the early leaders of interfaith dialogue in our city, but was also the titular head of the Muslim community here. Early on in my own endeavors in this arena, I was impressed by his eloquence, wisdom, warmth, call for critical thinking in Islam and quiet sense of humor.
