    In this season of the Resurrection, Pope Francis has given us a great gift.

    He has announced a Holy Year, an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. It will start during Advent, on Dec. 8, the Immaculate Conception, and it will continue until Christ the King Sunday, November 20, 2016.

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — Roman Catholic Archbishop Jose Gomez will host a multi-denominational prayer service in Los Angeles to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the killings of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians under the Ottoman Empire.

    An ecumenical prayer service to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide will be held Tuesday night at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

    Leaders of Armenian and other Christian denominations from throughout the state will gather at the altar to deliver special prayers in memory of Armenian genocide victims and to proclaim the importance of respecting human life and diversity.

    Arturo Barragán Quintero es un diácono permanente asignado actualmente a la parroquia de San Juan Bautista de Baldwin Park, California, donde ejerce su ministerio. Nació en Uruapan, Michoacán, México, de Ignacio Barragán Camarena y Elvira Quintero de Barragán quienes formaron una familia numerosa -14 hermanos entre hombres y mujeres, de los que sobreviven 11. A los 16 años de edad, Arturo vino a Estados Unidos “a aprender inglés”. Aquí “terminé la secundaria, hice dos años de colegio, fundé mi propia compañía de remodelación de baños y cocinas y, acostumbrado ya al estilo de vida americano, no regresé a México”, cuenta a VIDA NUEVA.

    Although the JSerra Lions’ four games in this year’s Boras Classic were arguably the toughest test JSerra has faced so far this season, you wouldn’t know it from checking the box scores. After eliminating top-notch Granite Hills, Great Oak and Bishop Alemany by scores of 4-0, 10-1 and 5-0, JSerra captured the trophy by defeating fellow Boras Classic co-host Mater Dei in yet another definitive 5-0 shutout.
