Much has been written about the Holy Father’s impact on the Church and on the world, and there is much more that can be said about his work to renew the Vatican and inspire new ways of thinking for how the Church carries out her mission in the world. -

St. Lawrence Martyr School emerged as the winner once again this year in the 28th Los Angeles Archdiocese Academic Decathlon held March 11.

St. Joseph High School names Erinn Dougherty principal
A new principal will soon be walking the halls of St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria. The Department of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles announced the appointment of Erinn Dougherty to the position on March 3. Dougherty replaces Joanne Poloni, who is retiring following the conclusion of this school year. Poloni had worked at the school for 40 years and served for six as principal.

The J.Serra and San Gabriel Mission girls’ soccer team and the Loyola boys’ squad will will for CIF Southern California Regional Soccer titles March 10, following semifinal victories March 8.

Basketball: Mater Dei wins Open Division championship
It wasn’t easy at the end, but Mater Dei High School held off Sierra Canyon, 55-53, to win the CIF-Southern Section Open Division championship March 2 at The Pyramid in Long Beach.
