Each year, National Catholic Sisters Week is celebrated March 8-14 to honor religious women for all they have done. This is a wonderful time for Dignity Health hospitals to reflect on the rich history and mission of their founding Sisters, while also giving thanks for the spiritual care provided to patients in their time of need.

Local churches join together to worship and rebuild after arson
On March 11, 2018, Pasadena’s Episcopal Church of the Angels held a choral evensong to benefit the arson-damaged Resurrection Catholic Church in Boyle Heights. Both victims of recent vandalism and arson, the two churches have formed an unexpected bond.

Relevant Radio Contributors to Present at Religious Education Congress
Each year the Archdiocese of Los Angeles hosts the Religious Education Congress, a Catholic formation event that this year is expected to draw 40,000 from around the country and around the world. This year’s Congress will take place March 16-18 in Anaheim, CA and the theme is ‘Rise Up!’

Conducting a liturgical whirlwind at the Religious Education Congress
This weekend, 40,000 people from around the world will gather at the Anaheim Convention Center for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ annual Religious Education Congress. There will be more than 300 workshops led by some of the Catholic Church’s most prominent figures, but the signature experience of the R.E.C. has long been its liturgies. Fourteen different services will be offered over four days, in styles ranging from small and contemplative to amphitheater-size celebrations of the Eucharist, staffed by hundreds of volunteers.

Cedars-Sinai welcomes next generation of doctors and scientists
Dr. Keith L. Black (second from right), professor and chair of the neurosurgery department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, joined students at the 20th annual “Brainworks” event on March 12 at the hospital. Approximately 200 students from Helen Keller Middle School, KIPP Academy, Cathedral High School and Virgil Middle School participated in the event, which aims to inspire the next generation of doctors and scientists by exposing them to advances in neurosurgery and other healthcare specialties.

Youth Day kicks off 2018 Religious Education Congress in Anaheim
More than 15,000 adolescents from throughout California and other states will attend Youth Day on Thursday, March 15 kicking off the 2018 Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education. The event is open to all who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith or seek personal growth.
