Local artists add beauty to Los Angeles exhibit ‘250 Years of Mission’ to celebrate Jubilee Year
On September 11, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles began a Jubilee Year, Forward in Mission, to mark 250 years since the opening of the region’s first church, Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, founded in 1771 by Saint Junípero Serra. An exhibit titled 250 Years of Mission will be on display at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels through Sept. 10, 2022, to tell the story of the Catholic faith in the region.

Over 250 years, Mission San Gabriel has endured every kind of test
In May 2018, I spontaneously decided to begin walking the roughly 800-mile California Mission Trail. With a lot of prayer, support from my family and friends at the California Mission Walkers, I finished in June 2020.

Who would have thought two decades ago, after the Sept. 11 attacks, that Dawn Unity would be celebrating 20 years of interfaith education? Some things are constant and some changed over our existence. We remain committed to educating people about their neighbors’ faiths through scholarly discussion by qualified representatives of their religions. And, we are committed to doing this through respect for all religions and their followers.

Honorable Governor, please send back for re-write AB 338 and stop the slander of Father Serra. Archbishops Salvatore J. Cordileone and Jose H. Gomez publicly defended Father Saint Junipero Serra. They oppose the parts of AB 338 that slander Serra. I agree.
