St. Lawrence Martyr School emerged as the winner once again this year in the 28th Los Angeles Archdiocese Academic Decathlon held March 11.

St. Joseph High School names Erinn Dougherty principal
A new principal will soon be walking the halls of St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria. The Department of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles announced the appointment of Erinn Dougherty to the position on March 3. Dougherty replaces Joanne Poloni, who is retiring following the conclusion of this school year. Poloni had worked at the school for 40 years and served for six as principal.

LOCAL SISTERS AMONG PARTICIPANTS IN CATHOLIC DAY OF ACTION FOR DREAMERS
Their respective ministries have brought the immigration issue to the forefront for Sisters of Charity Tracy Kemme and Andrea Koverman, along with making it a very personal one. Sister Tracy has lived and worked at the El Paso-Juarez border volunteering at a shelter for migrants, been a member of the archdiocesan Immigration Task Force, and currently serves as bilingual pastoral ministry at Holy Family Parish in Price Hill. Sister Andrea Koverman spent 20-plus years teaching in South Carolina’s migrant communities and now ministers at the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center (IJPC).

La Conferencia de Obispos Católicos de Estados Unidos (USCCB) promovió una jornada nacional de llamadas al Congreso para demandar una solución legislativa para los “soñadores”. La iniciativa nacional fue lanzada por la Arquidiócesis de los Ángeles, la más grande del país, con más de 5 millones de fieles, y contó con el apoyo de todas las diócesis y arquidiócesis de EE.UU. La iniciativa generó un aluvión de llamadas a los congresistas.
