A principio de mayo la hermana Norma Pimentel, Misionera de Jesús y Directora de Caridades Católicas del Valle del Río Grande, en Texas (Estados Unidos) envió una carta al Papa Francisco en la que le mostraba su preocupación por la cantidad de migrantes, niños viajando solos, familias desesperadas, que a diario cruzan la frontera norte de México para tratar de internarse en Estados Unidos.
