With timely hitting and clutch pitching, Louisville High School captured its first-ever CIF-Southern Section softball championship May 18 with a 5-1 upset win over top-seeded Torrance at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine.

Since 2009, at least one local Catholic school has won a CIF-Southern Section divisional softball championship each year. In 2019, it’s Louisville of Woodland Hills with the chance to continue the streak.

Ramona Convent hosts 26th annual academic competition
At this year’s Ramona Challenge, a day of fun and competition for girls in grades 5-8, over 700 students from 20 local elementary schools converged on Ramona Convent in Alhambra to show off their smarts. Competitors were selected from their respective schools to compete in artistic, athletic, musical, and academic contests designed by Ramona’s high school students and faculty members.

Pomona Catholic receives Spirit of Caring Award
At the 35th annual San Gabriel Region Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Monday, May 6, Pomona Catholic School received the Spirit of Caring Award, honoring the school’s faithful service to their community. The school is one of three awardees for this year, including Bishop David O’Connell and the late Bill Clark.
