    Every day 10,000 baby boomers retire. And by 2050, this is projected to add up to 83.7 million Americans being 65 or older. That’s almost double the number of 43.1 million seniors in 2012. Our aging population will present all kinds of demographic challenges to policy makers, government officials, health care providers and family caretakers. Many politicos and pundits believe that Social Security will have to undergo profound changes or it simply won’t survive.

    A gregarious group of third graders shared a special moment at Immaculate Conception School in Los Angeles the morning of May 4, as they held hands and recited a prayer to express their support for people in need half a world away during an archdiocesan press conference to officially launch the “Join Hands for Nepal” campaign.

    Thousands of men, women and children representing diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, races and faiths gathered on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on May 1 for International Workers’ Day, peacefully demanding “full rights for all,” including increasing minimum wage to $15 an hour, implementation of President Barack Obama’s executive orders on immigration and an end to police brutality nationwide.
