  • CEF Scholar Wins Trip to Japan from LA Times

    On February 9, St. Genevieve High School senior and CEF scholar, Sonny Jefferson, received the exciting news that she was being funded to travel to her dream destination: Tokyo, Japan. Los Angeles Times HS Insider sponsored the Discover Asia Correspondent Contest in which high school and college students were asked to write a 1000-word essay explaining why and what about Asian culture was of interest to them. Jefferson’s essay was chosen out of the 227 that were received.

    Religious sisters, brothers and priests from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and their friends and families filled the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels to celebrate the jubilee anniversaries of consecrated religious and their communities during a two-hour Sunday Mass Jan. 31.

  • L.A. Angels owner awards full college scholarships to two Sacred Heart H.S. students

    On Feb. 2, two high school seniors at Sacred Heart High School in Lincoln Heights were awarded full four-year college scholarships to their school of choice. Arte Moreno, an American businessman and owner of the baseball team the Los Angeles Angels, funded the generous award through his charity foundation.
