Door of Mercy opened at Sylmar Juvenile Hall

“Enjoy,” said Archbishop José H. Gomez, placing the plate of meat loaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad in front of the middle-aged man with the shaved head. He repeated the motion with the other hand to a nearby gentleman wearing a flannel shirt. Then he headed back to the counter of the Cardinal Manning Center for two more paper plates.

Faith groups unite to end human trafficking in Los Angeles
On Jan. 16, families, high school students and human trafficking survivors marched in protest of labor and sex trafficking. The roughly 500 activists held signs and chanted as they walked through Koreatown, a Los Angeles neighborhood known for cases of human trafficking.

Seven pastoral associates commissioned to serve the Church
During a Jan. 17 Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, seven pastoral associates were formally commissioned to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, to serve side by side with parish pastors in leading RCIA classes, Scripture studies and other faith formation programs.
