OneLife LA partners with many Southern California-based service organizations that provide life-affirming support to pregnant women, assist immigrants and refugees, the homeless, trafficking survivors, the elderly, the disabled and the dying, and help foster children find forever homes. This commitment to service ensures that participants view this event not only as a destination, but as a call to build up our communities back here in Orange County and elsewhere. -

California to Vote on Measure That Could Remove All Restrictions on Abortion | EWTN News Nightly
California voters will soon decide on a measure that could remove all restrictions on abortion in the state. The state’s existing laws restrict abortion after 24 weeks, or the age of viability, but advocates of Proposition 1 hold that’s not enough. Archbishop Jose Gomez of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, joins to share his concerns about Proposition 1. The proposal would allow for abortions up to the point of birth. Archbishop Gomez tells us what the general sentiment is among Californians and whether he thinks even some pro-choice voters consider this a step too far. The archdiocesan website mentions the issue of cost and how passage of Proposition 1 could also be a very expensive move for the state. Archbishop Gomez explains. Donations for humanitarian and church needs can be made to a special collection for the Bishops Emergency Disaster Fund (if taken in your diocese). Los Angeles Archbishop José H. Gomez, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, encouraged the special collection in early October. #iGiveCatholicTogether also accepts donations for the Bishops Emergency Disaster Fund. All donations received (100%) will go to relief, recovery and rebuilding needs.

Catholic leaders call attention to poorly worded California abortion measure
Months after the US Supreme Court handed down a landmark decision to place abortion decisions back in that hands of state governments, California is preparing to vote on a bill that would enshrine abortion in the state’s constitution. While the bill is expected to pass in the historically blue state, critics and Catholic leaders are calling attention to the lack of defined restrictions in the wording of the bill.
