ARCHDIOCESE LAUNCHES ITS FIRST LITURGICAL ARTS MINISTRY SUMMER CAMP
High school students can sign up online now for program in liturgy, music and the liturgical
arts from June 29-July 3 at Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles
High school youth are invited to sign up for LAMP SoCal (Liturgical Arts Ministry Project of
Southern California), the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ first summer camp designed to mentor
high school students in the visual and performing liturgical ministries.
“LAMP SoCal is designed to help students strengthen their talents and gifts for liturgical
ministry and return to their schools and parishes to spread the love of God as leaders, musicians,
lectors or visual artists,” said Dr. Dale Sieverding, Executive Director of LAMP SoCal.
The camp, sponsored by the Archdiocese’s Office for Worship, will be held from June 29-July 3
at Mount St. Mary’s University Chalon Campus (12001 Chalon Rd.) in Los Angeles.
Camp activities, led by Catholic pastoral, liturgical and music leaders from the Archdiocese, will
focus on mentoring youth in liturgy, pastoral music and the art of multicultural celebration of the
liturgy. Each day will include liturgical prayer, education, formation and coaching for students
who wish to serve their schools or parishes as musicians, vocalists, instrumentalists, artists,
lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ministers of liturgical movement, sacristans and altar servers.
The program is designed to mentor and form young people to deepen their understanding of the
liturgy and build intercultural competency to understand the worship needs of the multicultural
communities in our parishes and high schools.
