Shields — recently participated in a gathering of theologians at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Conference Center, hosted by the Most Rev. José H. Gomez.

    St. Vincent de Paul’s camp and retreat center welcomes Juan Arambul as their new program and development director. Arambul will take on this newly created role in a full-time capacity in June. The announcement was made on March 20.

    The La Salle Lancers were behind before Tuesday afternoon’s conference baseball showdown versus the Cathedral Phantoms even began … literally. That’s because the matchup, originally scheduled for last Friday, was halted in its tracks in the top of the third inning when the lights at La Salle’s home field Arcadia County Park suddenly went out and could not be turned back on.

    Nearly one-third of American dioceses have reported the numbers of catechumens and candidates who are expected to enter the Church at Easter.

    The highest figures were supplied by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (1,828 catechumens), the Archdiocese of Washington (1,317 catechumens and candidates), and the Diocese of Raleigh (1,300 catechumens and candidates).

    After defeating the Notre Dame Knights at home on Tuesday afternoon courtesy of an exhilarating seventh inning rally, the Bishop Alemany Warriors sought to repeat the result in their rematch at Notre Dame on Friday night, but had no interest in replicating how they got there. While Tuesday’s barnburner saw Bishop Alemany lose a three-run lead late in the game and take seven innings to take it back, the Warriors’ goal this time around was to capture the lead early and never look back
