Pope Francis names St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian as the Cathedral of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy in the United States
On Aug. 2, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri presented Bishop Mikael Mouradian, eparch of the Armenian Catholics in the United States and Canada, with the decree of Pope Francis, by which St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Catholic Church was erected as the cathedral of the eparchy. Archbishop José H. Gomez among other guest clergy attended and concelebrated the Mass, celebrated by Bishop Mikael Mouradian in the Armenian rite. The decree of the Holy Father was read loudly during the Liturgy, before Cardinal Sandri gave the homily of the day.
