California Hospitals Reject Assisted Suicide
Following last week’s implementation of the state’s End of Life Option Act, which allows terminally ill patients given less than six months to live the right to legally kill themselves, several medical facilities in Santa Barbara and Palm Springs have publicly stated they will not employ the practice in their hospitals, an allowance afforded under the new law.

My wife and I had the pleasure of attending the diaconate ordinations for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles last weekend. This was my first ordination since being ordained last year. Like your own wedding, it is hard to be fully involved in your own ordination. This year, I was able to relive those moments in my own ordination that I did not fully appreciate and some that I did.

After the latest mass shooting
In the face of the mass murders in Orlando, Florida, this weekend, it is difficult to write.
It is complicated and frustrating and it feels like we have already been through this before. So many mass shootings, and this is another one that is apparently an act of terror carried out in the name of a radical religious ideology. When I heard the news, I thought about the killings in San Bernardino, just last December.
