    The Conferral of Promotions Mass and the Rite of Solemn Investiture Mass was celebrated Oct. 1-2 at the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem’s Annual Meeting in Tucson, Ariz. Grand Master Cardinal Edwin O’Brien was in attendance; the new Grand Prior, Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, was installed.

    The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels received a major infusion of youth the morning of Oct. 26, as elementary and middle school students from 60 Catholic schools around the Archdiocese of Los Angeles gathered for the annual Missionary Childhood Association Mass of Appreciation.

    More than 8,000 Catholic middle school and high school students rallied for “life” at USC’s Galen Center during LIFEsoCal’s fourth annual Christian Service 4LIFE. Youths from across the Archdiocese of Los Angeles attended the half-day field trip designed to inspire students to respect all life, from conception to natural death, and to be active in Christian service. This year’s event — titled “The Path to Sainthood” — featured the life and works of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

    Mass in the New Hampshire State Prison Chapel was canceled for unknown reasons on the morning of Sunday, October 16. I had no Mass supplies to offer Mass that evening, and no way to obtain them in time, and by the time I learned of the cancellation, the 8:00 AM Mass on EWTN was over. Then I remembered that EWTN repeats its Sunday morning Mass at noon. So I made a mental note to drop everything then, and tune in.
