    Una de las tradiciones más importantes de México es el Día de los Muertos que tiene lugar cada 2 de noviembre en ocasión de la conmemoración católica de los Fieles Difuntos. Con la migración de los mexicanos a Estados Unidos, esta festividad también ha traspasado fronteras y ahora se celebra en varias diócesis católicas del país norteamericano.

    As noted in a recent Angelus News article (Sept. 8), the Fernandez family of Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance made history in the 1970s when four sisters (twins Anna Maria and Anna Lucia, and twins Cecilia and Elisa) who were coached by their mother Dolores captured individual and team championships in the CIF-Southern Section girls’ tennis tournament.

    Day of the Dead is a celebration when the dearly departed return briefly to earth, to spend time with those they left behind. Celebrants create altars dedicated to the memory of the deceased, laden with some of their favorite things – from a bottle of liquor to a stuffed animal, and decorated with marigolds, the traditional flower of the dead.
