52 years after his death, a funeral is finally held for a serviceman from Montebello
The service included all of the pomp and reverence expected, including a motorcycle-led procession of Vietnam veterans down Whittier Boulevard to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where Montebello police officers served as pallbearers. Garfield High ROTC members also took part in ceremonies before the Mass. Then, it was on to Rose Hills Memorial Park Mortuaries where burial services were held.

As someone who studied to become a speech-language pathologist (SLP), I was excited to learn about an extraordinary parish especially devoted to the deaf community in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. I had seen an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter at a regular Mass but had no idea that this parish existed.
