Priests of the new awakening
On June 5, I will ordain eight fine men to be new priests for the family of God in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
This is the second class of priests ordained during the pandemic. These new priests, too, will be called to be missionaries to a generation that has seen its certainties and securities disrupted by a deadly plague.

Mix of virtual, in-person Memorial Day observances planned for LA County
Most Memorial Day observances in Los Angeles County will be virtual Monday because of the coronavirus pandemic but in-person events are planned for Long Beach, Newhall and Westlake Village.
A reading of names of service members who have died in combat since 9/11 will begin at 5:30 a.m. at Rosie the Riveter Park in Long Beach. Active-duty military, law enforcement, first responders and veterans will read the names.
