    Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego pilgrimage: The images go to various parishes in the tri-county region of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Before coming to the San Fernando Valley on Nov. 10-11 at St. Bridget of Sweden (7100 Whitaker Ave., Lake Balboa), the images travel to these parishes: St. Mary of the Assumption, Whittier, Oct. 29; La Purísima Concepción Parish, Lompoc, Oct. 30-31; Mission Basilica San Buenaventura, Ventura, Nov. 1-2. Find the complete pilgrimage schedule here: lacatholics.org/guadalupe/. The pilgrimage culminates on Dec. 4 with the 91st annual procession to East Los Angeles Community College Stadium, followed by a Mass.

    The Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a holiday traditionally celebrated on Nov. 1 and 2, though other days, such as Oct. 31 or Nov. 6, may be included. It involves family and friends gathering to pay respects to those who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include honoring the deceased with marigolds and altars.
