ARCHBISHOP GOMEZ INVITES FAITHFUL TO JOIN IN PRAYER FOR POPE FRANCIS
Archbishop José H. Gomez asked the faithful today to join him in prayer for Pope Francis as he is treated at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for a respiratory infection.
“Let’s pray for our Holy Father Pope Francis as he undergoes his medical treatments at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital,” said Archbishop Gomez in a statement delivered through Twitter. “We entrust him to the tender care of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and we ask that she keep him close in her love.”
This afternoon, Pope Francis was taken to Gemelli Hospital and according to reports, he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection and will remain in the hospital for several days.
Archbishop Gomez’s statement adds to the one sent today by the President of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB), Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, who asked the faithful to pray for Pope Francis’ speedy recovery.
