ARCHDIOCESE PARTNERS WITH CATHOLIC MEDIA AND UNIVISION LOS ANGELES TO BRING HOLY MASS TO FAITHFUL AMID COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Due to the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles made the unprecedented decision to suspend the celebration of Mass to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).  In order to continue to bring the celebration of the Eucharist, an integral part of the Catholic faith, Masses celebrated privately by Archbishop José H. Gomez and the priests at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, as well as Masses at other parishes of the Archdiocese, are being offered via livestream for the faithful.

Through a partnership with Univision Los Angeles, the Masses in Spanish from the Cathedral are now being brought directly into homes over the air via Univision’s local UniMas KFTR-TV, Channel 46, Monday-Friday and Sunday at 7 a.m., especially serving those who do not have internet or cable access.  Catholic media are also helping to bring Holy Mass directly to Catholic faithful airing Masses in English and Spanish on cable, radio and via the internet on El Sembrador (ESNE) TV/Radio, Guadalupe Radio, Relevant Radio and The Catholic Channel on Sirius XM.

“Being able to bring the celebration of the Eucharist and the Word of God directly to our community of faith is a great blessing,” explained Archbishop José H. Gomez. “Our Catholic community is doing our part to limit the spread of this global public health threat by suspending Masses at all parishes for the first time in the history of our Archdiocese. Even though we cannot publicly gather in communion to celebrate our faith together during these difficult times, I encourage our faithful to continue to participate in the Holy Mass via television, radio and online so that we may continue to pray together for the Lord’s grace and mercy in our time of need.”
